Rev. Fr. Paul Ottakagu - The Deputy Provost

Rev. Paul Ottakagu was born in a deeply religious family and environment in Ogui, Enugu on the 17th day of May, 1978. He was the last of the five children of Chief and Mrs. C.C. Ottakagu. He hails from Egede in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.
He had his Nursery Education in Ogui Enugu from 1983 until 1985. He had his Primary Education at Asata Primary School, Enugu from 1985 until 1990.

Rev. Paul's early encounter with the late Saintly Bishop Michael Eneja as a Mass Server radically upturned the enthusiastic longing of some of his family members who were wishing that he should become a medical doctor. Ironically, one could say that this quest was not completely denied because he later became a medical doctor but this time a medical doctor of souls, a priest of the most high God. The quest to become a priest saw him in the four walls of the Seminary in 1991. Due to his academic and moral excellence he was given double promotion from J.S.S.I to J.S.S.III at Sacred Heart Seminary Nsude.

From 1993 until 1995, he had his Senior Secondary Education at St. John Cross Seminary, Nsukka where he was retained to serve as a Junior seminarian teacher for one year apostolic work. He did his Spiritual Year Formation at Queen of the Apostles Seminary, Imezi-Owa from 1996 until 1997.

He was one of the pioneer set that started Pope John Paul II Major Seminary, Awka for Philosophical Studies in 1998. One can say that Rev. Paul was blessed with many Seminaries he attended on his journey to priesthood since in 1999 he was among those that finished up their philosophical studies this time at Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu from 1999 until 2001.

He did his one year apostolic work as a Senior Seminarian from 2001 until 2002 at the Enugu Diocesan Catholic Secretariat, Holy Ghost Cathedral. From 2003 until 2007 he had his theological studies at Blessed Iwene Tansi Seminary, Onitsha and was ordained a Catholic priest on the 7th day of July, 2007.

Overtime in the course of his studies he bagged the following academic prowess namely B.Phil, B. Theo, Diploma in Latin, HND in Mass Communication, PGD in Psychology, PGDE, Masters in Education in view.

He has served as a Parish Priest in two parishes since his ordination before being called to serve as Deputy Provost of IEcE in 2013.
